KEGUI XIN

Ke-gui Xin

Ke-gui Xin was born on 16 October 1950, in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, China. He began his college life late but he made progress fast. He earned his bachelor degree in 1977, master degree in 1983, form. Tsinghua University, supervised by Yu-qiu Long (professor of structural mechanics at Tsinghua University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering). And then he earned a Ph.D. from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Professor Ke-gui Xin is a most famous expert of Civil Engineering in China, outstanding researcher and educator. Ke-gui Xin is a legend in structural mechanism education of Tsinghua and he found an effective method in thin-walled structure analysis. As one of the best students of Yu-qiu Long, Ke-gui Xin was praised by Yu-qiu Long as ‘good student’, ‘good friend’ and ‘good leader’. Long said, Prof. Ke-gui Xin is not only good at research but also good at management.

Professor Ke-gui Xin now is the the Deputy Dean of School of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University. Ke-gui Xin has had over 20 graduate students. Many of them have gone on to have distinguished careers themselves. And Ke-gui Xin has had 3 doctoral candidates and all of them are the best in Tsinghua.
